Postdoctoral Fellow

Department: Ranish
Location: Seattle, WA

The Ranish Group is seeking a highly motivated scientist to conduct research investigating how hematopoietic stem cells differentiate into mature red blood cells. To accomplish this goal, the lab is developing mass spectrometry-based technology to quantify the transcription factor proteome as cells differentiate. The data will be used to model the transcriptional regulatory networks underlying this process. The models will guide future experiments to understand how specific transcription factors drive cell fate decisions. The successful applicant will be expected to design, execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments.

Key responsibilities include

  • Development and application of mass spectrometry-based proteomics technologies
  • Recombinant protein expression and purification
  • Molecular biology and cell based assays
  • Discuss and present research at internal meetings
  • Manuscript preparation

Qualifications:

  • PhD in analytical chemistry or biomedical sciences (i.e., molecular/cellular biology or biochemistry)
  • Strong interest in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and gene regulation
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, work efficiently and independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
